The pH levels in all hydroponics systems need to be carefully monitored and controlled. The ideal pH range of nutrient solutions in a hydroponic set-up should be somewhere between 5.6 and 6.2. pH levels can easily be controlled with the help of either a pH up or pH down solution.
If your pH levels are outside the recommended range then your system is at a high risk of causing harm to your plants. At the very best the performance of your plants will suffer and at worst your plants will die, especially if they are left outside the optimum range for too long.
Both pH Up and PH Down are highly concentrated aggressive liquids and should be handled with extreme care.
pH Down
This pH Down solution contains orthophosphoric acid which will quickly and effectively act to reduce the pH of your nutrient solution. The formula consists of highly concentrated levels of orthophosphoric acid at 81%, which is more than many other pH Down products on the market.
pH Up
This pH Up solution contains potassium hydroxide at a concentration of 25%, which is again stronger than most other pH Up solutions on the market. This formula will act quickly to raise the pH of your nutrient solution back to an optimum level.
